  1. Create a list view with the following criteria, and share to the VP of sales and subordinate roles:

Close date is THIS FISCAL QUARTER AND

Probability > 50 AND

Probability < 100

You could also filter the list by opportunity stage.  I prefer using probability as if stages are added in the future, they will be included automatically depending on their corresponding probability.

  1. Click Opportunities Tab.  Click Create New View.  Enter view name “My High Probability Closing this Qtr”.  Specify Filter Criteria “My Opportunities”, Close Date = THIS FISCAL QUARTER, Probability greater than 50, Probability less than 100.  Restrict visibility to “SVP, Sales and Marketing” role and subordinates.

    1. That determines who can select the list view – you could expose this view to everyone in the org, however- you may want to restrict this view so that only certain users (e.g. sales and marketing) can see the view in their drop down.

    Secondly, instead of writing THIS FISCAL QUARTER. I used THIS QUARTER. What is the difference between THIS FISCAL QUARTER and THIS QUARTER?

    Finally, is there a need to create >50 or 50 not suffice?

  2. Question: Could you accomplish this with a Dashboard Report and save on home page? If this is a key metric then daily visibility without having to go look for it would be important. Role hierarchy would then take care of who see’s it.Just a thought.

  3. Also can we enter a date say “08/04/2014” in the “VALUE” field instead of “THIS FISCAL QUARTER”?
    Sales force accepts this date format? and does this field validate the actual fiscal quarter date in the calendars that is set up?

      1. But won’t an absolute date value limit the use of the report? If you put “THIS FISCAL QUARTER” then it should always work for, well, this quarter. No?

          1. Maybe you mentioned this earlier, but is there a list of possible values anywhere within SF? In other words, as a new user, how would I know that THIS FISCAL QUARTER would work.

  4. This solution would also give opp visibility to the Marketing subordinate roles, which was not stated in the requirement. Using the roles & subordinates of: VP, International Sales and VP, North American Sales would be more appropriate, no?

      Yes good catch, you could definitely tweak the list view sharing settings to exclude the marketing role if you have one defined in your role hierarchy. Or better yet, define a public group (e.g. Sales Users) and use that within your sharing criteria for the list view.
