What kind of jobs types can I apply for with this certificate besides just salesforce administrator? I dont have a ton of experience so I just want to get my foot in the door.
I have my first job interview to become a salesforce administrator next week. Any tips on what I should expect in this interview? It is for a sales/ marketing company. Any help would be appreciated!
Apologies on the late reply- great question. Hope things worked out well for you.
A few things:
-convey your enthueasm about the platform and the type of role you are applying for
-research the company and everyone that you are interviewing with (linked in, etc.)
-be prepared to answer techincal questions but if you don’t know the answer communicate that… but also how you would approach finding a solution.
Will think on this one, there’s a good opportunity to add some content on this subject.
Thanks for the reply! I just finished my third interview with the company and I feel like it may lead my first salesforce admin job! This website has changed my career!
🙂
Hello John,
Any suggestions/tips on how to take the Intermediate Release exams.
I’ve just passed ADM201 Summer16 exam and I want to share some my thoughts . Exam is difficult. Covers a lot of topics, questions quite often are related to subjects which has the lowest percent in study guide (chaterr, files sharing, sync outlook, community). Only about half of questions is scenario based .
My suggest to all learnes that apart from certifiedondemand quiz and materials to check flashcard in cram site http://www.cram.com/search?query=adm+201. Look for some newest sets of flash card and try to test/found out the answers in yours developer orgs. Lot of question are the same on egzam but answers are outdated or wrong. And those are often questions you know the answer or not and its hard to logically eliminate wrong answers .
Of course mybe it was my subset of question like that and at the end I’ve passed in my first try so maybe this egxam wasnt so though !
For your quiz questions at the end of each exam you have “Select 2 or 3” for multiple answer questions. Does the exam also specify how many correct answers there are? or go you have to go with your gut and logic?
Just passed the Administrator Course on this sunny Saturday afternoon. Not without some serious study work, this website certainly helped.. Thank you John!.
Hi John
i passed the ADM 201 exam todays all thanks to your amazing site.
I also got 26/30 on your exam and that made me feel real confident, and it paid off.
I am now looking for my first job in salesforce, are there any interview tips or work related tips you can pass on.
I am now going to pursue the developer exam, so get your skates on and sort it out already.
Passed my ADM 201 certification today. Thank you for this wonderful website.
I am planning to wok for ADM 301. I understand DEV 401 has been discontinued. I would really appreciate your advise on what certification should I go for next as I am static at the moment.
Hi John,
I wanted to inform you that I passed my ADM-201 certification exam thanks to your great guide! It was worth the money.
Thanks a lot for this and for your support and helpful answers to questions.
Best regards,
just wanted to say a big thank you for your essential guides and really helpful comments, which enabled me to pass ADM-201 last week! Your content is the best I found out there, and as I think you know, there is some really bad exam prep content available, out of date and sometimes clearly wrong. Keep up the great work!
I also want to thank you for a very helpful website. I was a project manager who worked at a fortune 500 company for over 15 years and got laid off in July so I took the opportunity to make a career change and utilized your site as well as trailhead website and an instructor lead course through salesforce.com to become an administrator for salesforce.com. I passed my exam yesterday and your site was very instrumental on my passing the exam. I hope you’ll do other exam study guides in the future because I’m thinking about some other certifications as well. Thanks again.
Hi John,
Wanted to thank you for creating an excellent resource to prepare for the Certified Administrator exam. Using CertifiedOnDemand.com, Salesforce’s Help & Training documentation, and Trailhead, I felt thoroughly prepared for the exam and passed the Salesforce Certified Administrator (SU15) exam last week at Dreamforce. I will definitely continue to reference and recommend this site during my Salesforce journey. Thanks!
Hey John, thanks again for putting this great website together. I successfully passed the 201 on my second try, and owe much of it to being able to refer to this site. I’m sure you’ve heard it before….but when can we get some additional study materials for the other certifications! 🙂
I wanted to thank you for taking your time to create this wonderful resource for aspiring Admins. I have no prior experience as Salesforce Admin or in IT at all but with the help of your website I trained myself and passed the exam – it has taken me 3 months and 2 attempts, but I am certified now!
John,
Great site! I started using your site last week and passed my exam today. I am sharing this with all my co workers! Please tell me you have one in the works for other certs????
When you register webassessor will tell you which version – if it is summer then yes you will need to review the summer 15 and spring 15 release notes prior the exam.
This guide is designed for the Admin exam, however, much of the content overlaps. You will need to review the Developer exam study guide and evaluate – there are a few topics that you will need to learn on that end, although this guide will cover most of the content.
Planning to take the ADM 201 exam on March 20th, wanted to check if this site has updated content for Spring ’15 release? I believe that Spring ’15 release is out and all ADM 201 exams will incorporate new Spring 15 questions.
If it’s not updated, any plans to update it soon for me to catch up before the exam, if not where to catchup and prep. for the updates. I’m guessing only parts of the updates need to be studied for the ADM-201. can you point out to which parts to study as well if you can share where to prep from (if site is not updated).
It is currently updated for Winter 15 – I would recommend that you review the release notes and release training for Spring 15 (from Salesforce directly).
Just passed the exam today. Really appreciate for all the work John contribute on this site. And hope this site will extent to developer or further certification in the future.
What I noticed in the exam is they don’t want exam taker to memorize those numbers on limits at least in this season. They would like you to remember what users can do or what options are available within profile, license, and different functions.
I just took the Salesforce Certified Administrator test yesterday and I passed! COD was a great help. No Spring 15 questions yet but I would guess they will be updating it to include some of the new features soon. From here I am wonder if it would be better to go after the Salesforce Certified Force.com Developer exam or to try for the Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator? From what I have hear the 401 test is very close to this one? I do some development work now and am thinking I should get the 401 cert done first before I go after the Advanced Admin. Any thoughts?
@JohnCoppedge, again this site is a great resource and I applaud you for sharing your expertise with all of us. Thanks,
Hey Mark, thanks for the feedback. Glad the site helped, and congrats on passing! Dev401 is probably the easiest cert to get next, although I think there is more value in getting the advanced admin or sales cloud. That said, as you are also doing development work, it would make sense for you to get the cert to back it up (although advanced developer is really much more noteworthy). Cheers,
Does the exam cover Analytics Snapshots? I just set one up as practice, but I haven’t been able to find out how to create those day-over-day change reports
This is such a helpful guide. Along with the Exam Outline provided in the Salesforce.com Admin Guide, you can see the weighting for each objective and really home in on your studying. Thank you for putting it together!
I would like now to prepare DEV 401 exam, can you please let me know how what study materials I should go through and study before doing the exam. I would also like to know if you can indicate me useful tips and preparation questions .
Thanks for putting all this so nicely together. I got my ADM 201 certification done today – thanks to you and COD. Do you have any resources that you would suggest for Sales Cloud Consultant certification?
Hi Tom — this is a guess, but probably you need to empty your cache. If that doesn’t work probably getting out and back into your browser should do it. Hope this helps.
John, thank you so much for putting all of this together in the way you did and helping others get what they need to get certified. I have only been an admin for my org for about 2.5 months, I took the Admin Essentials class and I followed this study guide just as you have it in here for about 1.5 weeks and took the test yesterday morning and passed.
Thank you so much for your help, I will be referring back to this page for more help as I continue to learn and develop my SF skills. 🙂
I went to a session at Dreamforce last year (link below) about preparing for the exam and there were some good nuggets in there about tips for test day. I’m taking the exam next week for the first time and reviewing this video (after going through everything on your site for months) seemed to give me a little additional peace of mind about what the test will be like. Thought I’d share with anybody else interested as well.
Thanks for pulling this site together! It’s been an amazing help!
Travis
BTW, the presenter at the session comes off as extremely arrogant (in person and on the recording), but that’s the only downside to the video in my opinion.
Not sure if any one else had asked, but I would hope to see a centralized link to ALL of the quiz questions. It makes the review of the knowledge easier.
From what I understand, the exam I plan to take next week is on the Spring 14 edition. I have been studying your site since late February. Should I expect to encounter material unique to Spring 14 that I am unfamiliar with? Should I be concerned? Thank you for any insight you can provide.
The post from Tquila emphasize limits but your study guide doesn’t seem to emphasize limits as much? How much on limits can be expected on the exam, roughly?
The best advice I can give is to understand the limitations in the context of the capabilities of the platform. For example, you need to know that there are a somewhat limited number of rollup summary fields; you couldn’t for example create a rollup summary field to calculate the total amount sold on the account for each of the last 20 years (as the max number is currently 10). You would need to think about creating a report or a report component within the layout instead, which is probably a better approach from an architecture standpoint anyway.
That’s just an example – so long as you have a feel for what can and cannot be done in the context of limits, I think you should be fine. SF is more interested in testing your application of knowledge rather than rote memory.
Are you the answers to the exam is scored correctly. I took the exam a second time entering responses based on your feedback and I scored 63.3%? Can you al highlight the correct answers because some of the feedback is confusing. Thanks.
I passed ADM 201 two weeks ago. This site helped a lot, quite comprehensive and well arranged.
Thanks a lot. Can I use this even for dev 401?
Regds
Nikhil
It will definitely help you prepare for app builder, but you will need to do some additional studying (doesn’t cover all topics). Good luck!
I passed my exam today! Thank you for making this study guide it was a big help. Now I just need a study guide for finding a job!
Awesome congrats, I will have a post coming on that topic as well 🙂
What kind of jobs types can I apply for with this certificate besides just salesforce administrator? I dont have a ton of experience so I just want to get my foot in the door.
Business analyst, sales (or support) operations, jr. consultant are a few ideas. I’ll see what if I can address this more thoroughly in a post

Hello John,
I am taking my ADM 201 exam o 13th January. What are the odds that my knowledge of spring 2016 will be tested next week.
Thanks in advance
Sps
When you register for the exam, there will be a code (e.g. WI16 or SP16) – that corresponds to the version of the exam. Good luck!
Thank You John!
Hey John!

Awesome, congrats on the pass!
Generally speaking, I would recommend a path based on your role-
Consulting- CRM implementations: sales cloud or service cloud cert.
Admin: Advanced admin
Developer: Platform developer
Architect (consulting custom apps): App Builder
Thanks John!
Hi John,
I wanted to inform you that I passed my ADM-201 certification exam thanks to your great guide! It was worth the money.

Excellent, congrats! I do not at this time…
Hi,
Is Summer 15 going to be on the exam if i am planning on taking it this month? Or does it get put on the exam post the release? thank you.
When you register webassessor will tell you which version – if it is summer then yes you will need to review the summer 15 and spring 15 release notes prior the exam.
Hi John,
Is this study guide is also good for force.com developer exam (DEV401)?

Is this study guide are also good for DEV 40 (Force.com developer exam) too?
One question – Can we give the salesforce exam online from personal computer?
Yes – you need to have an external webcam and install some software. When you register for the exam it will walk you through the pre-reqs.
Hey John

It shouldn’t – it is not listed in the admin study guide, while it is in the advanced admin study guide.

Hi Koam,
I don’t cover Dev401 on this site yet unfortunately – although a lot of the concepts of ADM201 will overlap. Good luck in your studies!
Hi John,
Thanks for putting all this so nicely together. I got my ADM 201 certification done today – thanks to you and COD. Do you have any resources that you would suggest for Sales Cloud Consultant certification?
Cheers!
KK
Awesome congrats Kunal – unfortunately no I don’t have any specific advice (other than SFDC training) for sales cloud.
Hi John,
Cleared my Adm 201 Exam today .. COD helped a lot 😉
Thanks
Awesome, congrats Raghu!
Hi – I tried the practice exam and would like to try it again, but the earlier answers are still marked. How can I erase them to start over?
Hi Tom — this is a guess, but probably you need to empty your cache. If that doesn’t work probably getting out and back into your browser should do it. Hope this helps.
That should work – or if you simply complete the exam you should be able to restart it

Hey Cooper – I would recommend taking the spring 14 release training: http://www.salesforce.com/customer-resources/releases/spring14/release-training.jsp
