The “Configuring the Company Profile” link, the very first one, doesn’t open in a new tab, rather in the same window. In order to see the rest of this page I had to backspace and it’s pretty easy to miss since there are links to continue on the right side of the page
I have couple of questions concerning the language setting in ‘Company profile’:
(1) What is the difference between “Enable end-user languages – Help and Setup are not translated in end-user languages” AND Enable platform-only languages – no default translations are provided for platform-only languages?
(2) what are “platform-only language” and “Help and Setup” ?
Help and setup – refers to the help and set up menus in salesforce. In other words, this indicates if the help/setup menus are translated.
Default translations refers to the translation of standard fields and objects – in other words is “Opportunity” translated in the desired language, for example.
I just want to thank you John for this site. It helped me a great deal to pass my ADM 201 certification 3 month ago. I am working on my DEV 401 , I hope there is a similar site to help prepare for sales force developer ?
Thank You again
John,
I think the link for “What is Salesforce.com Web Services API?” is broken? (the third item on the page)
When I click it, the page it goes to is just a Search page in the Salesforce Help portal?
Hello John,
In the salesforce help page for editions that support API usage it is mentioned:-
To use the API, your organization must be on one of the following 3 editions. Note that this feature is enabled by default:
Business Hours & Holiday — I have set the hours from 9 to 6 PM daily, still it would not logged out automatically after 6 PM. It would allow continue of work. Am I missing something?
On : Describe the implications of enabling custom fiscal years.
Configuring the Company Profile
The Key Facts:
Once enabled, custom fiscal years cannot be disabled. Custom fiscal years have fairly significant implications for developers and AppExchange package compatability; make (did you mean “make sure” ? ) they are truly needed before enabling.
We need to add the Setting up of multiple Curriencies and under the developer edition i could find Manage corporate currency or Manage currencies. Please help.
To set up multiple currencies requires a feature request with Salesforce – you can raise a case to SFDC support and they will enable it. This is discussed further into this guide as well.
Is it important to know what’s available in the Classic and Lightening Experience, editions, and what all user permissions allow you to do?
Yes- that gets expanded on in the guide
Why is there not “manage currencies” in the Developer Ed.?
Thanks.
You need to enable multi currency

Clear. Thank you

That’s awesome, congrats! No other guides at this point – definitely something to consider for the future.
I can’t access the “What Editions Have API Access?” page either. It says my organization has exceed the limit?
I’ve removed this link – the doc appears to be no longer valid.
The “What is Salesforce.com Web Services API?” links to a blank page.
I am also facing the same problem.
John,

I think this is on SFDC’s end. I’m not able to access either.
Hello John,
In the salesforce help page for editions that support API usage it is mentioned:-
To use the API, your organization must be on one of the following 3 editions. Note that this feature is enabled by default:
1. Enterprise Edition
2. Unlimited Edition
3. Developer Edition
4. Performance Edition
Should it have been 4 instead of 3 or is an edition added incorrectly to the list of 3.?
Regards,
Gautam.
Yes, all 4 of those editions are API enabled
Business Hours & Holiday — I have set the hours from 9 to 6 PM daily, still it would not logged out automatically after 6 PM. It would allow continue of work. Am I missing something?
Login hours impact when the user can access the system, not business hours. Business hours are used to determine case escalation.
So in this case, how can this admin configure Salesforce to ensure a user is logged out at 6 pm?
Configure login hours on the profile
