Hi John,
Hi John,
The wording in Question 2 regarding activities is misleading; the first option is: Create a custom picklist field on THE activity object called “Call Outcome”. Add the field to the appropriate task page layout(s).
I would have normally selected this answer, but it says ‘THE’ activity object. There is not one sole object but two, so either saying AN activity object or the Task or Event object would be more appropriate.
Thanks
Makes sense- updated
(Sorry need to insert this question again as I forgot to click the “Notify Me button”): Hi John, really appreciate those study guide advice u gave! I will be taking the exam tomorrow and hope I will pass so need your help: With regards to your Q2 answer: Create a custom picklist field on the activity object called “Call Outcome”. Add the field to the appropriate task page layout(s). How do you do that? I went to Customize->Activities->Task Fields or Activity Custom Fields, and there’s no “Create New” indication. Do advise. Thanks John
Please see above, thanks!

Go to the “Activity custom fields” section in setup and create the fields there – they are then referenced for tasks.
In question #3, it should’ve been configured as “Closed” and not as “Completed”. The meaning is clear, but the wording is misleading.
Thanks, will update
I do not see the customer fields & relationship section in Task Fields and Event Fields? is activity not customizable?
You can add fields under activity custom fields.
on Question 3, what does it mean by configuring “Cancelled” as “Completed” when it’s added?
When you add a new task status you can set if the task status is completed or not (which is how SFDC determines if a task of that status appears in the completed or open activity related list).
Perhaps you can add this item from the appexchange: Activities Tab
https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N30000009iGxwEAE
Good point Juul – I’ve installed this app a number of times, it is really quite helpful
Or it might have been this one https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N300000059AgfEAE
This is even better than the other one. I just spent my morning tryiing to get an “Activities” tab and ended up creating a custom link with value “//XXNN.salesforce.com/007” where XXNN is your instance. Worked well.
Probably a stupid question for number two, but I don’t see in Salesforce any Activity Object per se; I see task object and event object but no activity object. When taking the cert exam, are activity and task objects synonymous?
Good question – an activity is either a task or an event (both are configured under the activity section in setup).
@JohnCoppedge. Thank you for this study guide which is excellent. I am confused by the justification you provide for question number 2, why is it that the activity object is preferred over the lead object in this case? Both of the objects seem equally reasonable for capturing this information, and in fact the lead objects seems superior in some ways given that Inside Sales Rep’s would likely be more familiar with the use and functionality of the lead object.
Yes you would have a lead record to represent the individual (or a contact record). However, the actual phone call (voice message, etc.) would be logged as an activity record logged against that lead/contact.
I messed up on this because of the word ‘Activity Object’. I thought TASKS and EVENTS are Objects but not Activity.
Standard Objects are TASKS or EVENTS right?
Is there an object called ACTIVITY?
I’ll correct the wording here thanks for pointing that out… task and event are the objects that encompass “activities”
In question1, how can i assign recurring tasks./events to more than one person. The recurring tasks is getting disabled when i add more than one person in the event.please explain. Thanks
You can invite multiple participants to a recurring meeting- doesn’t necessarily have to be assigned
